Working seamlessly with Accountants and external advisers, we ensure our clients are fully covered on all fronts
Following changes in government legislation, larger accountancy firms have been cashing in on their ability to now be licensed to provide legal services.
The clients of these firms benefit from a joined-up, holistic approach to their legal needs as the firm has the ‘big picture’ insight.
But what about smaller firms of accountants? How can they take advantage of a joined up approach for their clients?
Clearly Business Law works solely with micro and SME businesses. We engage with other professional advisers at an early stage to ensure that our advice is consistent with the accounting, HR and other advice that is being given to the client and that we have the full picture.
We are able to offer the full range of business law services (save for litigation and commercial property services, although we have trusted partners for this). By working in partnership with accountants and other advisers clients appreciate our ability to work seamlessly by quickly co-operating and sharing knowledge to ensure that they are fully covered on all fronts.
Our services include:
- Company law and general business law advice
- Reorganisations (including capital reductions and share buybacks)
- Investment, shareholder agreements and joint ventures
- Share incentives (including EMI share schemes and Employee Ownership Trusts)
- Mergers and acquisitions
- Partnership and LLP agreements
- Commercial agreements with suppliers and customers/clients
We understand that many accountants feel uncomfortable with referral fees or fee share arrangements (and that these need to be declared) but we are happy to discuss these.
We only charge fixed fees for our services and we can offer preferential rates to clients whose referral has come from their accountant. This will allow you to add value to the services you provide to your clients.
We are able to offer accountants working with us peace of mind that their clients will be getting the best possible service and we regularly provide legal updates and training to enable accountants to remain up to speed on areas their clients may need to know about.

We work with you to prepare employment contracts that comply with the law and which protect your business. In particular we make sure that your customer base and any confidential information is protected and give you peace of mind knowing that your interests are covered because any restrictions are properly drafted.
We can also prepare the key policies that you should have for your employees including disciplinary and grievance policies, sickness absence policy, health and safety policy, equal opportunities policy, anti-harassment/bullying policy and email/internet/social media policy.
If things don’t work out we can also help you to manage the situation and, if appropriate, prepare settlement agreements to end the employment relationship without the risk of an employment claim being brought by the departing employee.
We can also help with Directors service agreements, Freelancer/independent contractor agreements and Consultancy agreements.

“We are delighted to have supported Relode in their important funding round in 2025. Relode is delivering exactly the kind of clean-energy infrastructure the UK needs if it is to meet its net-zero goals, and we’re proud to play a part in that transition. This transaction reflects the type of work where our background in leading law firms, combined with our hands-on, partner-led approach, enables us to provide pragmatic advice to growing businesses and their founders.“
Alison Morjaria, Director of Clearly Business Law
